April Blog Post

This month has been an exciting time for me, as my first non-fiction book has been released. It’s called: Jacob – Taking hold of God’s blessing. The links to buy it can be found in the ‘my books,’ tab. It can also be bought from any Christian bookstore.

The planning and writing of a book was a lot more involving than I first thought and I had greatly underestimated the amount of time and effort it would take to get this project off the ground. I was under the illusion that you plan and write the book, send it off to the publisher, where it’s slightly edited, then it’s printed – how wrong I was!

Fortunately, I had cleared my calendar so that I could totally focus on the project. Because I had written a book in line with a series, my book had to fit perfectly so that the reader, who had read other books in the series, would be completely at ease with my book. It needed the same kind of author voice and flow that was in the other titles.

This was my first book and throughout the whole process I learned a great deal about book production and the publishing side of the business. Working with a Christian company made the journey extremely pleasurable too and I had a fantastic editor who was a great support to me. I feel that I have grown as a writer, as the only way to improve is to keep writing, and reading, as this is how we grow and develop.

I’m currently working on other books, some are of a similar theme and others are craft related. I’ve managed to pick up my knitting needles again and I have several pattern designs that I’m working on, as well as a few feature articles too. I will keep you posted!

Thank you for reading,

Have a great week,

Sarah. 😊
