Crochet

Hi Peeps,

I hope that everyone is doing well. 😊 This week’s post is all about crochet!

I do enjoy crocheting although I’m not confident at it. Unfortunately, I don’t get to do much of it because it hurts my wrist, and whilst I have tried different methods it still hurts so I can only do it occasionally. I fractured my wrist as a child and even though it healed, it isn’t as strong as it once was.

A dear friend bought me a crochet pattern book for Christmas so I will be picking up my hook again to make a few things from it. 😊

I find that I must concentrate when I crochet as I lose count, forget what I’ve done, then it ends up looking weird, and often too small, then I have to try and correct it. It’s a bit different from knitting and I had to get used to holding the yarn differently and it took me ages to get used to it, but once I did, I loved it.

My nan who taught me to knit could crochet too but she wouldn’t show me how to do it because she wanted me to learn knitting first. Fortunately for me You Tube was invented so I learned how to crochet from there. 😊

Here is my first attempt! LOL. I got better with practice! 😀

My first crochet project was a scarf. I made individual squares and attached them together, and whilst it doesn’t look fabulous it does the job and I still wear the scarf today. I was thinking of Doctor Who when I made it. 😉

If you fancy having a go yourself all you need is a crochet hook and a ball of yarn, plus You Tube. 😉 Maybe you already crochet? How did you learn? And what do you like to make? Please comment below.

Thanks for reading! Feel free to share,

Sarah.

  1. I actually taught myself to crochet with Youtube videos as well, and my first attempt looked alot like yours haha.
Now I enjoy a bit of crochet doing baby blankets mainly but also cute little scrubbie cloths. Some of the patterns you can make with it are really pretty
